I’m not going to lie. I’m not great at writing about myself. In fact, I hate it. But this is the “about” section of the site, so here goes.
I am a North Philadelphia native and a graduate of The Community College of Philadelphia, Temple University, and Arcadia University. I’m very proud of attending all three institutions because college is a lot of work, and graduate school is even more so. Let me tell you about it one day if we ever meet in person.
I’m a journalist by trade. I became interested in the field when I was twelve and enrolled in Project HOME’s after-school program. This was around 2002, with the first issue of what would eventually be The North Philly Metropolis coming out a year later. I miss the paper sometimes.
Unfortunately, it ended in 2008. It was a wild ending. Since leaving the NPM, I’ve interned and written for other publications, both print and online, such as The Philadelphia Public School Notebook (now Chalkbeat), The Philadelphia Weekly (no longer exists 🙁), WHYY, and The Huffington Post.
Currently, I am an Americorp tutor with Joyful Readers, an adjunct professor at the Community College of Philadelphia, and a soon-to-be educator. I’m also slowly working on a book. Occasionally, I freelance here and there.
And, yes, I still obsess over the best zombie show, “The Walking Dead.”
Proud of you Peak
Thanks Zabeth 🙂
